Brooksville
review backs deputies who shot man dead
Prosecutors have decided not to file charges against two Hernando deputies who shot and killed a 25-year-old Spring Hill man while responding to a domestic dispute at his parents' home in November. A review found that deputies Christopher Croft and Michael Glatfelter were justified in fatally shooting Kyle Gabelman, according to a memo from Assistant State Attorney Ric Ridgway. Ridgway's review wraps up an investigation by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement into the fatal shooting, which was the first by a Hernando deputy since 2003.
Tampa
Report: Ex-Buc hit woman in the eye
An argument between former Tampa Bay Buccaneer Cosey Coleman and the mother of his two children ended when the 310-pound lineman struck her Thursday across the left eye with a candy box, according to a Hillsborough Sheriff's Office report. Coleman, formerly a starter on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' 2002 Super Bowl champions team and an All American at the University of Tennessee, was arrested at his home on a domestic battery charge and taken into custody by deputies. Jail records show he was charged with misdemeanor domestic battery. Bail was set at $500. Coleman started all but one game for the Bucs from 2001-04 and last played in the NFL in 2006 with the Cleveland Browns.
Largo
Man accused of stabbing in bar
A Largo man faces a charge of attempted murder after, authorities said, he stabbed another man at a bar. Anthony Fatu, 25, was sitting at Just Chillin' restaurant, 1201 Gooden Crossing, early Friday morning. His attacker, Junior A. Raymond, 40, approached and started stabbing him, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. A witness told sheriff's investigators that the attack was unprovoked. Fatu was stabbed with a "fold-out" knife once in the right upper arm and once in the right upper shoulder. Police said Fatu's injuries appeared critical. He was taken to Largo Medical Center, but his condition was not available Friday afternoon. Raymond was taken to the Pinellas County Jail where he was held without bail Friday.
New Port Richey
Driver charged in road rage shooting
A Port Richey man charged with attempted murder has been accused of firing a handgun during a road rage incident Thursday. Brandon J. Cloud, 22, was jailed in lieu of $165,000 bail. John Fredrickson and his girlfriend Lisa Backers told sheriff's deputies they were driving home from work about 4:20 p.m. Thursday. The gold Lincoln in front of them, they noticed, was weaving and driving erratically. Backers blew her horn, according to a sheriff's report. Then the Lincoln turned off the road, then it appeared behind them. Backers said she pulled into a gas station parking lot at Rowan Road near Cypress Knoll Drive. The Lincoln followed. The sheriff's report says the Lincoln circled around the gas pumps and the driver pointed a handgun out the window and fired once at Fredrickson, who was not hit.
