Storage bin is fresh idea that's never out of date

This storage bin unit is a practical and convenient way to keep fruits and vegetables fresh longer. The wire mesh on the front of each bin allows air to circulate freely, creating a cool, dry environment suitable for storing apples, potatoes or onions. The two pull-out bins are 10 inches deep by 15 inches wide, and the top shelf is flat for storing canned goods or dish towels. Along with storage, the unit adds some old-fashioned charm to the kitchen. Easy enough for beginners, the project features full-size traceable patterns for all the curved cuts (the pull-out bins and base). Simply trace the pieces onto standard lumber (pine as pictured), cut out and assemble with glue and nails. Next, sand and finish with stain or paint. Finally, attach the lower bins to the main section with hinges and install the knobs. The project measures 40 inches tall by 19 inches wide by 12 inches deep. The Storage Bins plan, No. 797, is $9.95 and includes step-by-step instructions with photos, full-size traceable patterns, construction diagrams, a complete shopping list and cutting schedule and a toll-free help line for project questions. A package of three plans for the country kitchen, No. C136, is $22.95 and includes this plan along with plans for a pie safe and an oak ice box. A free catalog picturing dozens of do-it-yourself projects is also available. Please include $4 for postage and handling, and allow about two weeks for delivery.
