CLEARWATER

Clearwater police shut down a garage-based marijuana-growing operation Thursday night, officials said. Police narcotics detectives say they received a tip that Jonathan C. Jensen, 25, was running a marijuana grow operation out of Apt. A at 304 S Orion Ave. Police said part of the apartment's garage was enclosed and converted into a grow house. Detectives seized 38 large marijuana plants and 68 smaller plants in addition to the cultivating equipment, police said. The estimated value was $5,000 to $10,000. Jensen faces charges of cultivating marijuana and possession of marijuana. He was being held Friday at the Pinellas County Jail in lieu of $1,150 bail. One of his roommates, Grant H. Grein Jr., 25, faces charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana after police said they found 21 grams of marijuana on him. He was released from jail on his own recognizance.

Man accused of stabbing in bar

A Largo man faces a charge of attempted murder after authorities said he stabbed another man at a bar. Anthony Fatu, 25, was sitting at Just Chillin' restaurant, 1201 Gooden Crossing, early Friday morning. His attacker, Junior A. Raymond, 40, approached and started stabbing him, according to the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. A witness told sheriff's investigators that the attack was unprovoked. Fatu was stabbed with a "fold-out" knife once in the right upper arm and once in the right upper shoulder. Police said Fatu's injuries appeared critical. He was taken to Largo Medical Center, but his condition was not available Friday afternoon. Raymond was taken to the Pinellas County Jail where he was being held without bail Friday.
