Railroad maintenance closes streets

BROOKSVILLE
Main Street at the railroad tracks will be closed Monday through March 4 as CSX Railroad continues major maintenance on its line through Hernando County. Also, Fort Dade Avenue at the tracks is closed and is expected to be open by Wednesday. CSX will workon tracks in the county through March 26, which will affect nearly all the grade crossings in Hernando at one time or another and will result in extended closures. Detour routes will be posted. Detour maps are available at the Sheriff's Office and substations, fire stations, the Brooksville Police Department, the Hernando County Government Center, City Hall and the Public Works Department. Health care topic of AARP forum
Hernando County AARP Chapter 1026 invites area seniors to its next forum, which will be Tuesday at Kally K's, 3383 Commercial Way, Spring Hill. Lunch will be at noon. Diana C. Brijbag, a nationally certified medical manager, will speak at 1 p.m., continuing on the topic, "What You Should Know About Your Health Care During This Change Period," from the chapter's prior meeting. Her son, Brian Brijbag, will be on hand to discuss his outreach work as a youth minister and counselor in Hernando County. Seniors who are not AARP members are welcome to sit in. Road ceremony will honor Marine
U.S. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite and the Hernando County Commission will host a dedication ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday for Sgt. Lea Mills Boulevard, which is just south of the Hernando County Airport (across from Russo's Hardware). Mills, a Hernando High graduate and son of Rob and Dee Mills of Masaryktown, died April 26, 2006, while serving in Iraq with the Marine Corps. The new road connects U.S. 41 with Corporate Boulevard in the Corporate AirPark. It is part of a planned network of roads being constructed in the area. For information, call 754-4061.
