Gibbs students present 'Stage Door' this week

Students of the Pinellas County Center for the Arts will present the Broadway comedy Stage Door at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday at Gibbs High School's Grande Theatre, 850 34th St. S, St. Petersburg.

ST. PETE BEACH

Fresh market is open Wednesday mornings

St. Pete Beach hosts a weekly Wednesday Morning Fresh Market and is seeking vendors to sell fresh produce, spices, herbs, flowers, homemade goods and crafts. The market is held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the covered pavilion of the Community Center, 7701 Boca Ciega Drive. Fee for vendors is $25 a week or $75 for four continuous weeks. LARGO

SPCA is referral source for spaying, neutering

February is National Spay/Neuter month. The Largo animal shelter will offer 100 free spay-neuter surgeries to pets of those with limited income.

The SPCA works with participating veterinarians to perform the procedure at an office near the applicant's home. Service includes pet vaccinations and rabies shots.

To qualify, applicants must apply in person with a recent 1040 form by Friday from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the SPCA, 9099 130th Ave. N. in Largo.

In addition, the SPCA's year-round Fix a Pit Program offers free spay/neuter surgeries to all pit bullterriers and pit bull mixes regardless of owner's income. For more information about this program or other programs visit www.SPCATampaBay.org or call 586-3591.

Ombudsmen needed to assist elderly

The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program administered by the Florida Department of Elder Affairs seeks volunteers to investigate nursing home and assisted-living facility residents' complaints about their rights, funds, food, drug regimens, abuse or neglect. Mileage and meal reimbursements are provided. Call 1-888-831-0404 to apply for the next training class.

St. Petersburg Catholic to hold sixth Baron Gala

St. Petersburg Catholic High School will hold its sixth annual Baron Gala, "Treasures of the Sea," at 6:30 p.m. March 1 at the St. John Bosco Center for the Arts, 6333 Ninth Ave. N.

Dinner will be provided by Lee Roy Selmon's. Dance to the steel drums of Joseph Braccio. Live and silent auctions will be held.

Donations of items for the live and silent auction are being accepted.
