TAMPA - Robinson High School has an official International Baccalaureate program, Hillsborough school officials said Monday. The South Tampa school began offering the rigorous academic curriculum in a magnet program last school year. In the fall, it faced an exacting review to secure the seal of approval from the IB organization, based in Geneva, which counts more 600,000 students in 126 countries. Principal Laura Zavatkay said representatives spent two days visiting Robinson in the fall, interviewing teachers, students, parents and school administrators about the program. "We were confident," she said. "We just feel so much better now that we know." She said Robinson expects to enroll about 300 students in its IB magnet next school year and will add another 125 the following year. Hillsborough County also has IB programs at King and Hillsborough high schools.
