Man arrested in shootings at strip club
A New Port Richey man was arrested in connection with a shooting that injured two at a strip club early Sunday morning. Pasco County sheriff's deputies arrested Bryan G. Heater, 27, of 4333 Erie Drive, late Tuesday. They did not specify what role they think he played in the shooting. Kellie L. Zorka, 27, of Holiday and Anthony P. Monti, 32, were shot in the parking lot of Diamonds Gentleman's Club at 3935 Grand Blvd., authorities said. Zorka was taken to Bayfront Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the head. Monti was treated for a gunshot wound to the left arm. Deputies said Monti and Zorka, who formerly worked at the club, argued with several people near closing time. The argument ended with gunfire.

Clerk accused of stealing from court
A Hillsborough County court clerk was arrested Tuesday, accused of stealing money at work. Heidi D. Cabrera, 24, was charged with grand theft, after undercover video surveillance captured pictures of her stuffing money in her purse, the Florida Highway Patrol reported. The FHP, which conducted the investigation, said Cabrera admitted to taking $3,416 between June and December 2007. She told officials she needed the money because she was going through a divorce and had a sick child, according to an FHP news release. Cabrera, employed by the Clerk of the Circuit Court's Office for about three years, worked at the front counter in the traffic department. She was booked into jail and released on $2,000 bail.

Transient man dies from fight injury
A homeless man who was seriously injured after a fight at a soup kitchen Sunday has died, police said. His attacker now faces a manslaughter charge. The argument between Craig L. Kennedy and Lane Fogle, 37, started near the St. Vincent de Paul shelter at 401 15th St. N sometime late Sunday night. Kennedy, 49, called Fogle "derogatory terms for a homosexual person," said police spokesman George Kajtsa. In return, Fogle punched Kennedy in the face, causing Kennedy to fall and hit his head on the street, police said. He was unconscious and taken to Bayfront Medical Center after police were called around 12:30 a.m. Monday. He died later that day. Fogle turned himself in Monday and was arrested.
Off-duty deputy charged with DUI
An off-duty Pinellas County Sheriff's Office employee was arrested on a DUI charge Monday night. Christopher Bobryk, a criminal justice specialist who works at the Pinellas County Jail, was arrested by St. Petersburg police after a traffic stop at 32nd Avenue and 38th Street N. The Sheriff's Office was notified of his arrest. Bobryk, 61, a sheriff's employee since 1998, had a blood-alcohol level of 0.174, more than twice the level at which the state presumes a driver is impaired. Police say they pulled him over after he ran a red light about 9:50 p.m. Bobyrk was the second off-duty Pinellas County Sheriff's Office employee assigned to the Corrections and Detentions Bureau arrested since Friday, when Aaron O. Simpson, a detention deputy at the jail, was arrested on a DUI charge.
