Beating victim is eight months pregnant

A 23-year-old man was arrested Monday morning and charged with aggravated domestic battery on a pregnant woman. Pasco sheriff's deputies said Alex Perez of Land O'Lakes kicked the woman in the stomach, pushed her to the ground and struck her in the back of the head during an argument. The arrest report did not disclose the woman's name or her relationship to Perez. Perez told deputies the woman, who is eight months pregnant, started the fight, according to the report. Perez was held Tuesday in the Land O'Lakes jail. His bail had not been set.

Police: Dad took toddler on moped

Zephyrhills police said Marvin Root, 44, told them he wanted to take his 2-year-old son on a ride Monday afternoon. But Root said he didn't realize it was dangerous to just tuck his son in one arm and cruise around town on his moped, according to the arrest report. Root was charged with child neglect, driving with a suspended license, and driving without a motorcycle endorsement after police saw him riding his moped around Fifth Avenue. Root was held at the Land O'Lakes Jail in lieu of $5,300 bail.

Yard sale rules include 'shhhh'

The Zephyrhills Historical Association will hold its "First Saturday Yard Sale Day" from daylight to noon Saturday at the Depot Museum, 39110 South Avenue. The setup fee is $1 and there are two new rules: No setups before 6 a.m. and don't wake the neighbors. For information, call (813) 780-0067.
