There wasn't much Kirsten Kelsey didn't do Tuesday.
As a pitcher, she allowed one hit. At the plate, she produced three hits.
Behind her effort, Tampa Prep defeated Indian Rocks Christian 10-0 in five innings to improve to 4-1.
"She had a great game," Terrapins coach Jessica Grace said.
Kelsey (4-1) was nearly flawless on the mound. She struck out 11, her second-best performance this season, and didn't surrender a walk.
"Kirsten does a great job with her pitch location and with her intensity," Grace said.
Kelsey went 3-for-4.
Teammate Dana Malinowski also produced. Her single in the fourth brought home three and keyed a five-running inning.
"It was a good game," Grace said. "The team utilized its hitting and fielding and was able to put together a quality district win."
Tampa Catholic 4, Berkeley Prep 0
At Tampa Catholic, the Crusaders improved to 5-2, ending a two-game losing streak as pitcher Madison McGowan threw six hitless innings of relief.
"Her drop ball was working well," Crusaders coach Vernon Tatum said. "She was really hitting the corners and keeping hitters off balance."
Shortstop Katherine Spack had only one hit but made the most of it. After reaching base, she stole second, then third, and scored on a sacrifice bunt by second baseman Christina Martinez. That started a three-run third.
BASEBALL
Berkeley Prep 6, Shorecrest 2
At Shorecrest, Berkeley Prep was led by rightfielder Pat Haire and catcher Stefano Lazzara, each of whom had two hits.
Berkeley is 3-3; Shorecrest fell to 3-2.
Both of Haire's hits were doubles. Infielder Tony Pikos drove in two runs for the Buccaneers, who produced nine hits.
Sophomore Chris Ciocia earned the win.
In three innings of relief, he allowed no earned runs. Starter Grant Sittig also performed well.
