Ayers Road to close at crossing for railroad work

BROOKSVILLE
Ayers Road at the railroad track, just east of U.S. 41, will be closed Monday through March 11 as CSX Railroad continues major maintenance on its line through Hernando County. CSX will work on tracks through March 26, which will affect nearly all the grade crossings in the county at one time or another and will result in extended closures. Detour routes will be posted. Detour maps are available at the Sheriff's Office and substations, fire stations, the Brooksville Police Department, the Hernando County Government Center, City Hall and the Public Works Department. FLORAL CITY
Strawberry festival begins this weekend
The 21st annual Floral City Strawberry Festival will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Floral Park on U.S. 41. Free parking and shuttle service will be offered from the Citrus County Fairgrounds. Admission is $2 (free for children younger than 12). Call the Citrus County Chamber of Commerce at (352) 726-2801.
MASARYKTOWN
Sgt. Lea Mills Blvd. to be dedicated
U.S. Rep. Ginny Brown-Waite and the County Commission will host a dedication ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday for Sgt. Lea Mills Boulevard, south of the Hernando County Airport (across from Russo's Hardware). Mills, a Hernando High graduate and son of Rob and Dee Mills of Masaryktown, died April 26, 2006, while serving in Iraq with the Marine Corps. The new road connects U.S. 41 with Corporate Boulevard in the Corporate AirPark. It is part of a planned network of roads being constructed in the area. Call 754-4061.
