ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

Volunteers are needed for Family Fun Day from 4 to 8 p.m. March 28. The event features carnival-style games, live and silent auctions, and more. Call (813) 469-0292.

More than 130 families will participate in the annual yard sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the school, 8411 Civic Road, Town 'N Country. Furniture, bikes, household items, electronics and more will be available. Proceeds benefit student programs and facility maintenance.

Hammond Elementary: (813) 792-5120

Principal Karen Zileinski will talk about the details of the kindergarten program at the Kindergarten Round Up at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. Registration for the 2008-2009 school year will be accepted. Nap mats and other Hammond Wolf Cub gear will be on sale.

The school is part of the Green School Project, a recycling drive to reduce stress on the environment and to raise money for the school. The school is collecting empty printer, fax and copier cartridges, and old cell phones to recycle. Businesses also can get involved. Volunteers are needed for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life on April 18 and 19. The New Tampa relay's theme is Broadway Shows - Let's Produce a Cure. The school needs 10 members for their Lion King-themed team. Proceeds benefit a cure for cancer. Call (813) 994-7535.

MIDDLE SCHOOLS

Adams Middle School: (813) 975-7665

The PTSA is selling blue backsacks with the Warrior logo printed on them for $10. A sample is on display, and orders can be made in the front office.

The Parent Teacher Student Association seeks members, especially students. The cost is $6.

The steering committee is selling 4- by 8-inch engraved bricks for $25. Have it installed in one of the school's new gardens. The school also seeks a landscape or paver company to donate its services to install the bricks. Call (813) 975-7665, ext. 215.

IMPACT, Individually Motivated Performance by Computer Technology, is a one-year competency-based program that allows overage students an opportunity to graduate with their original class. Host an exchange student: World Heritage Student Exchange, a public benefit group, is seeking host families for its high school exchange program. Students are high-school-age boys and girls from France, Germany, Thailand, Japan, Mexico, Denmark, Italy and Switzerland. The students are fully insured, bring their own personal spending money and expect to bear a share of household chores, as well as be included in normal family activities and lifestyles. Scholarship: The National Association of Women in Construction Gaylene Plodzien $1,000 Scholarship is available to students enrolled in a technical program, pursuing a bachelor's or post-graduate degree and interested in a job in the construction industry.
