Tampa man charged in February slaying

Tampa police and U.S. marshals arrested a Tampa man Saturday afternoon in connection with the Feb. 13 slaying of Philip-Paul Kimber.

Kimber, 19, died after he and Lorenzo Young, 27, exchanged gunfire at 8317 N 14th St. on Feb. 13, police spokeswoman Andrea Davis said. Young was grazed by gunshots, she said. Police issued an arrest warrant for Young on Feb. 22.

Young is being charged with first-degree murder, battery and possessing a firearm as a felon.

Police arrested Young after getting a tip that he was at the Shell gas station at 50th Street and Melbourne Avenue, Davis said. Young is being held at a Hillsborough County jail without bail.
