Job Corps Center creates jobs quickly
The planned Pinellas County Job Corps Center is going to be creating jobs even before it opens its doors. Environmental Design & Construction LLC, which won a $30.1-million bid from the Department of Labor to construct the nine-building complex in St. Petersburg, has put out a call for subcontractors. Designed by Renker Eich Parks Architects, the center in St. Petersburg's Midtown neighborhood will help those ages 16 through 24 with education and job training. At a recent groundbreaking ceremony, U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao said the center was expected to create more than 100 jobs and contribute some $7-million annually to the local economy. First up: the subcontractors. Interested local subcontractors are encouraged to contact Environmental Design & Construction at (202) 373-5200 or visit www.envdes.com/contact.php.
