Job seeking, keeping skills taught at library

Free classes to assist individuals with job-seeking and job-keeping skills will be offered from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Mondays at the Hugh Embry Branch Library, 1415 Fourth St. in Dade City. The class covers where to look, what employers are looking for, how to market skills, resume advice and assistance, completing an application, tips on interviewing and how to keep the job. Learn to post queries from genealogy group
The Pasco County Genealogy Society will meet 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 9016 Fort King Road, Dade City. Openings in 'easy' computer classes
The Dade Cares Crescent Enrichment Center at 13906 Fifth St. is again offering "easy" computer classes. There are still a few openings for the classes, which begin Thursday and run through April 24. Participants will be required to buy the Computer Friendly book for $15, which will cover all classes and can be kept as a reference. Each class segment is three sessions, two hours each. East Pasco routes adjusted, fares rise
The Pasco County Public Transportation has implemented route adjustments in east Pasco and fare changes countywide. Routes 30 and 31 in east Pasco were enhanced in response to rider input. Fare increases also are in effect, and $5 bills and pennies will no longer be accepted. All changes to routes and fares can be viewed on the Web site at ridepcpt.com, or you can call (727) 834-3322 in west Pasco or (352) 521-4587 or (813) 235-6073 in east Pasco. Battle of the Bands XI coming March 28
Rock out with the Pasco County Library System at Battle of the Bands XI: Rockus Maximus at 6 p.m. March 28 at Crews Lake Park in Shady Hills. Different genres of music will be represented, and the bands will be judged on stage presence, vocals, songwriting and general musicianship. In addition to the live band competition, there are video/online documentaries on each band on the library's MySpace Web site, where bands are competing for votes. Showcase set for ex-offenders, family
The Coalition for the Homeless of Pasco County is sponsoring a coming home event for ex-offenders and their families from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. The event will center on a showcase of service plus a sharing of information among the participating service providers. The event will be at Life Point Christian Church, 6219 River Road in New Port Richey. Representatives from nonprofit agencies are scheduled to attend. Seminar to promote 'green' benefits
The West Pasco Board of Realtors will present a "green" seminar at 10 a.m. March 17. The public is invited to learn about the environmental and economic benefits of going green and how they can achieve a healthier, more environmentally sustainable future. Meet a Florida green builder and see what's new in green features, talk with Florida Progress Energy representatives about their energy-saving devices and rebates, talk with a local banker to find out about green purchasing incentives, stick around to hear more from other members of the Green Team. There is no fee. The seminar will be at the West Pasco Board of Realtors, 5409 Sunset Road in New Port Richey.

Women in History presented at museum
The Zephyrhills Historical Association will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Depot Museum, 39110 South Ave. The program, which starts at 7 p.m., features "Zephyrhills Women in History" and will be presented by Margaret Seppanen and women of the association. Garden Club to hold Easter luncheon

Business Expo, Taste of the Town Saturday
The Central Pasco Chamber of Commerce will have its annual Business Expo from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Land O'Lakes Recreation Complex, 3032 Collier Parkway. On Saturday, in conjunction with the Business Expo, Taste of the Town, with specialties from local restaurants, will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at $1 per sample or $5 for six tickets.
