Boy Scout Troop 8 will host the Third Annual Bowl-a-thon, a fundraiser at Leisure Lanes in Hudson on March 15.
"It's to raise money for equipment we need and for summer camp," fundraising chairwoman Julieann Finnegan said. "Some of the boys who can't afford to go to the camp, this is what we do. It does help some of the other boys who can't always afford camp or equipment."
Finnegan said the troop raised about $1,500-$2,000 with a matching grant from the Wal-Mart they sold tickets in front of. This year at the bowl-a-thon, the troop of 15, led by scoutmaster Alan Cranford, will have 300 tickets, with 10 tickets going to each Scout. It's $10 per ticket, and the money will be split, with $5 going to the troop and the other $5 going to the bowling center. The cost includes three games, shoes, ball and hot dog and soda.
Prizes will be items donated from local business, with things such as bicycles and tickets to theme parks.
