Today Baseball, Clearwater Central Catholic (8-1) at Tampa Catholic (3-1), 4 p.m.: In a matchup between two of the state’s elite programs, keep an eye on the pitching. Both teams have plenty of it. Softball, Riverview (5-2) at Durant (9-2), 7 p.m.: Durant has won four straight; in those games, the Cougars outscored opponents 35-0. Baseball, Bloomingdale (4-2) at Brandon (5-2), 7 p.m.: Brandon junior Michael Smith is hitting a robust .545. Friday Baseball, Hillsborough (4-4) at Jesuit (7-1), 7 p.m.: Will the real Terriers please stand up? They’ve lost four of five. And they’ll be facing a team with state championship potential. Saturday Baseball, Gaither (4-2) at Wharton (3-3), 1 p.m.: Gaither first baseman/pitcher Brady North is batting .500. He could be trouble for a Wildcats team that has allowed 21 runs in its past three games.
