Can't-miss events on the North Suncoast

Today
Softball, Countryside (8-1) at Mitchell (6-1), 7 p.m.: The Mustangs try to avenge their only loss; the Cougars won the first meeting 5-4.
Softball, Zephyrhills (4-3) at Gulf (6-4), 7 p.m.: The Bucs need something to help turn around their season, but the Bulldogs are looking for revenge after losing the first game 6-4.
Wednesday
Softball, Springstead (6-1) at Pasco (7-0), 7 p.m.: This is a makeup from last week that will feature arguably the top pitchers on the North Suncoast in Pasco’s Colena Lazar and Springstead’s Becky Powell.
Thursday
Softball, Land O’Lakes (5-0) at River Ridge (6-0), 7 p.m.: Twice they’ve tried to play, and twice the Royal Knights and Gators have been rained out. This should be the first true test for both teams.
Track, Land O’Lakes Invitational, 3:30 p.m.: The Gators host a meet involving teams from Pasco, Pinellas, Hernando and Citrus counties.
Boys tennis, River Ridge (5-0) at Wesley Chapel (2-1), 3 p.m.: Look for one of the year’s better singles matchups at No. 1, where Royal Knights standout Lucas Loman likely will face Wildcats junior J.R. Nicolas. Both were first-team all-county picks in 2007.
Friday
Softball, Pasco (7-0) at Zephyrhills (4-3), 7 p.m.: The Pirates travel to Zephyrhills for their fourth game in as many nights. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs will be looking to knock off one of the state’s top teams.
Baseball, Zephyrhills (4-2) at Pasco (5-1), 7 p.m.: A potential preview of the Class 4A, District 8 tournament final. We’re guessing Pirates senior right-hander Aaron Brandt will face Bulldogs sophomore righty Tyler Guy.
