Bankruptcy is a booming business

As the economy slows and more people have trouble paying their debts, the bankruptcy business is sizzling in Central Florida and across the nation. February's filings in the Middle District of Florida were the highest since bankruptcy laws changed in October 2005. The 2,898 cases filed in February were 9 percent more than in January and 73 percent more than in February 2007.

If you look at the number of filings which happened up to 10 days prior to the debtors' foreclosure auction, compared to the similar number from last year, you can see how much of a factor mortgage obligations are in recent bankruptcies.
