kiwanis sponsors circus coming to fairgrounds

The Kiwanis Club of Spring Hill wishes to inform residents that if they receive a telephone call about the Carson and Barnes Great American Circus, the calls are legitimate and are sponsored by the Spring Hill Kiwanis. Local businesses and groups might be contacted about buying tickets. Showtimes are at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. April 30 at the Hernando County Fairgrounds, 6436 S Broad St. For information, call 684-1661.

Volunteers sought for Guardian ad Litem

The Guardian ad Litem Program needs volunteers in Hernando County. Free training will be offered March 13, 14, 21 and 22 at the Hernando County Recreation Department at 205 E Fort Dade Ave., Brooksville. Guardian ad Litem volunteers are court-appointed to advocate for abused, abandoned and neglected children. Volunteers donate a few hours each month. Deadline is today for salute to troops event

Today is the reservation deadline for the "Salute to Our Troops Dinner" hosted by the After 5 Connection Christian Women's Club. It will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at Heather Golf and Country Club, 7406 St. Andrew's Blvd. The event is open to all area women. The speaker will be Joyce Schneider of Naples, who will discuss the healing process. There will be a presentation by the Central High School ROTC drill team. The cost is $10.
