TAMPA -- Sgt. Gary Hinson, a Hillsborough jail deputy who had been on paid administrative leave pending an internal investigation into the Jan. 29 dumping of quadriplegic Brian Sterner from his wheelchair, has returned to work.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter said she couldn't say why, because the investigation is still open. But she said Cpl. Decondra Williams is now on unpaid leave because of the preliminary findings, while Cpl. Steven Dickey remains on paid leave.
Deputy Charlette Marshall-Jones, who faces a felony charge of abuse of a disabled person in connection with the incident, resigned her post last month.
