Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 701 Valley Forge Blvd., Plant City, holds a Lenten Penance Service at 7 p.m. Monday. Music will be provided by music director Dwight Thomas. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Also, the church is collecting new or used long-sleeve shirts to donate to area migrant workers. Shirts can be for men or women, and 100 percent cotton is preferable. Donation containers are in the parish lobby, and shirts can be dropped off from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays until March 20.Call 634-2328.

Chabad Brandon Jewish Women's Circle hosts a program called "Beauty: Not Just Skin Deep" at 7 p.m. Sunday in preparation for the upcoming Purim holiday. The evening includes a discussion on the spiritual and mystical aspects of beauty and the pivotal role of Queen Esther in the story of Purim, along with a demonstration on the techniques of make-up artistry and skin care.

The event is at 3912 Bell Grande Drive, and there is a $10 admission charge. The event is open to all Jewish women regardless of affiliation or background. Call 661-2877.

Riverview United Methodist Church, 8002 U.S. Highway 301 S,holds special Wednesday services throughout Lent. Services start at 7:30 p.m. A potluck dinner is held beforehand in the church fellowship hall. Log on to for more information.

Congregation Beth Shalom of Brandon, 706 Bryan Road, a traditional reform Jewish congregation, holds weekly Shabbat services at 7:45 p.m. every Friday. Call 681-6547 or visit

South Brandon Baptist Church, 4929 Bell Shoals Road, is promoting a message of getting R.E.A.L. The acronym stands for "Radically Excited About the Lord," and the group meets every Friday night. There's a 7 p.m. session for high school seniors through age 30, with an 8:30 p.m. worship.

Friendship Baptist Church, 1511 El Rancho Drive, Sun City Center, offers a Sunday and Wednesday Bible study, a women's mission union, and information on interpreting for the deaf. Call 633-5950.

The Tree of Light Metaphysical Awareness and Worship Center, 209 Elrod Drive, presents several programs each month. Offerings include alternative healing, spiritual development, a monthly healing circle and worship services. The Brandon group holds Sunday services at 7:30 p.m. Call 689-1751.

The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Sun City Center will not meet this week. The group usually meets every Thursday at 7 p.m. at Beth Israel Synagogue, 1115 E Del Webb Blvd.

Concerned Action InChrist has several programs throughout the month, including family camping night, Sunday services, free hot meals every Saturday at Church of the Nazarene in Brandon, and a prayer and share group. Call 689-9552.

Nativity Catholic Church, 705 E Brandon Blvd., has a weekly Bible study from 9:25 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursdays. Call 737-2015.
