Reader Exchange: Like cryptograms? These might be for you

After her mother, a cryptogram fan, died, Hazel Pryor didn't immediately cancel the cryptogram publications to which she subscribed. Now Hazel has 2007 and 2008 editions of these magazines, which she'd like to put into the hands of somebody whoenjoys these puzzles as much as her mother did.

Twelve from Kappa Publishing include six titled Cryptograms, and six titled Cryptograms Special. A book from Sterling Publishing is titled Humorous Cryptograms. Please call 727 347-6995 if you need to be puzzled.

In Exchange Land, it's never too early to start thinking about Christmas, as you know. Maryanne Freeman of New Port Richey is hoping to find a Santa Claus suit that lacks a Santa for the 2008 holidays. Her church needs to clothe its jolly St. Nick, who is not only rotund, requiring an XL size, but Xtra Tall, 6 feet 8. Santa entertains the seniors and children in the congregation, so of course we hope he is decently covered! After 21 years of faithful service, Mary Avedisian's 1986 Toyota Camry died, leaving her with beautiful memories and two manuals, a 1986 Owner's Guide and 1986 Owner's Manual. Bill Syms, who wrote in a quest to find a Zapper, a device to disarm telemarketers, received all kinds of help to dodge their efforts. Some readers mailed or delivered Zappers, and Bill was very glad to lay eyes on the gadgets again. Others suggested places to call or write to reduce telemarketing calls. Many mentioned the best zapper of all, the Do Not Call List, which Bill contacted shortly after learning about it. To all these helpful people, Bill extends a big thanks.

The intrepid members of the Holiday Ladies Missionary Class, who have sent more than 13,000 Bible verse cards to Nigeria already this year, wish to thank all the readers who mailed or brought cards to the church after the Christmas card list was printed. The ladies would like to thank everyone personally, but it's pretty obvious they're far too busy to attempt that.
