A home in The Heather caught fire late Friday evening, causing extensive fire damage to the attic and some kitchen damage. Miranda Gates and Amber Stone, the residents of the home at 7450 Glasgow Road, had left the home when the power had gone out. A neighbor noticed the fire and alerted authorities. No one was injured and three dogs were rescued from the house, said Robert Miller, district chief for Hernando County Fire and Rescue. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but fire Marshal Richard Tincher said there was considerable lightning in the area at the time the fire started.
