Appraiser's office closing for training

The Hernando County Property Appraiser's Office will be closed from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday for training purposes. The offices are at Brooksville City Hall, 201 Howell Ave., Brooksville, and at the Westside Government Center, 7509 and 7525 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill. Call 754-4190.

Springstead ROTC will retire flags
Springstead High School's ROTC unit will conduct a flag retirement ceremony from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 16 at the school, 3300 Mariner Blvd. The cadets will perform the ceremony during each of their seven classes. All visitors must sign in at the office. Those wishing to donate their old, worn and tattered flags may drop them off at the school through April 1. Call Maj. Dennis Jolissaint at 797-7010, ext. 235.
Concert features teacher's pupils
The second annual "Best of the Best" concert with former students of the late Charlotte Murrin will be from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Silverthorn Country Club, 4550 Golf Club Lane. The concert, sponsored by the Charlotte Murrin Memorial Suzuki Education Foundation, features performances on the cello and violin. Tickets are $15. Call 688-5808.

Enjoy corned beef and cabbage
Marine Corps League, Spring Hill Detachment 708, 8405 Sunshine Grove Road, will host a St. Patrick's Day dinner and dance from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday. Dinner will include corned beef and cabbage.
