Pinellas detention deputy arrested on DUI charge

Largo Detention deputy in Pinellas jailed on DUI charge Elizabeth T. Dillon, a 25-year-old detention deputy with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office, was arrested early Sunday on a DUI charge. According to the Sheriff's Office, the arrest occurred near U.S. 19 and 150th Avenue in Largo about 3 a.m. Dillon was driving her personal vehicle at the time of the arrest. She was taken to the Pinellas County Jail and released later on her own recognizance. Jacksonville Sailor on carrier dies of injuries A sailor on Norfolk-based carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt has died after sustaining a head injury when the ship hit heavy seas off the Florida coast. The sailor's name was not released pending notification of the family. The sailor was taken by helicopter to a Jacksonville hospital, and died there Saturday. Tampa Car hits public works truck; 3 hurt A car accident sent a Tampa Public Works truck crashing halfway through an abandoned house Sunday night. About 8:30 p.m., a northbound white Toyota Solara ran a stop sign at N 33rd Street and E 18th Avenue, hitting the public works truck heading west on 18th Avenue, according to Tampa police. The car crashed into a fence and caught on fire. When officers arrived at the scene, the two male occupants of the Toyota jumped out of the car and ran, Tampa police Lt. Bill Ferguson said. They were quickly caught nearby. The truck driver was taken to Tampa General Hospital, where he was in stable condition Sunday night, Ferguson said. The occupants of the Toyota were also taken to Tampa General, where they were in good condition. Cape Canaveral Everything smooth for NASA launch With a smooth countdown and good forecast, everything seemed to be going NASA's way for Tuesday's planned liftoff of shuttle Endeavour on a long and arduous space station mission. Forecasters put the odds of favorable launch weather at 90 percent, as good as it normally gets. At 16 days, Endeavour's flight will be the longest ever by a shuttle visiting the international space station. Endeavour and its seven-member crew will deliver the first installment of Japan's space station lab, Kibo, as well as a Canadian two-armed robot designed to assist spacewalking astronauts.
