Office won't close for training
The Hernando County Property Appraiser's Office has canceled a training session that was set for Wednesday. The office will be open during regular business hours. Offices are at the Westside Government Center, 7525 Forest Oaks Blvd., Spring Hill, and Suite 300 of Brooksville City Hall, 201 Howell Ave., Brooksville. For information, call 754-4190.

Night of racing is for a good cause
The Junior Service League of Brooksville will host a "Night at the Races" video horse racing event at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Palace Grand, 275 Della Court. Tickets are $30, which includes heavy hors d'oeuvres, a dessert bar, appetizers, iced tea and coffee. There will be door prizes, music and dancing, as well as a cash bar. Corrections
- Kearney Construction will make water line improvements for the new Publix shopping center along Commercial Way in front of the Glen Lakes development between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 4 p.m. Wednesday. During that time, water service to all customers in Glen Lakes will be interrupted. Residential and commercial customers are advised to turn off their water heaters to prevent element damage, as well as their sprinkler systems, while the water service is off. For information, call 754-4037. A different time was listed in Sunday's Times.
- Seven Lutheran churches that have signed up to help Habitat of Hernando County build a home will contribute 10 percent of the cost while Habitat will contribute 25 percent. Different numbers were listed in the Times on Thursday. The other 65 percent comes from a grant from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, an independent nonprofit fraternal benefit society.
