Lightning forward Roy kept away from ice

TAMPA - The Lightning did not say it suspended left wing Andre Roy, but that was basically what happened Monday, when the team gave him the week off while it contemplates his future. "I have directed Andre to take the week off away from the team, with pay, while our internal discussions and overall review continues," general manager Jay Feaster said in a statement. Roy will miss at least five games after being sent home Friday because of several incidents during Thursday's game at Philadelphia. Roy jawed with the Flyers bench in the third period and made several throat-slashing gestures before being grabbed and pushed into his seat by coach John Tortorella. That after he apparently would not calm down in the locker room between the second and third periods after losing a fight with Riley Cote that was repeatedly shown on the Wachovia Center scoreboard. Feaster said he met with Roy, Tortorella and the coaching staff "regarding not just the incident that took place between periods and on the bench during the third period in Philadelphia but also other situations that have taken place this season involving Andre." Roy was a three-game scratch for disciplinary reasons in February after having words with Tortorella on the bench during a game against the Panthers in which he fought and then jawed with Branislav Mezei.

Then, all is left of our Stanley Cup Run is Boyle,St.Louis, and Vinny. Totally new team. New ownership must be pulling the strings. I wonder why would mgmt want to disappoint us ? I thought we were getting more cap space after this year ?

Andre Roy has been the only enjoyable part of an otherwise miserable season. Perhaps Feaster and Torts should take a week off to evaluate their worth.

Tortorella has to go...he hasn't had control and respect of the locker room since Andrechuk got forced out.

The Lightning want an enforcer, get one, let him loose then Tortorella wants to put a leash on him. So what if he was making throat slashing gestures, all it meant was another impending fight. Hello, he's an enforcer. Get rid of Tortorella, not Roy.

there you go Jay, get rid of anybody that shows any emotion in a season that has looked like everyone on the team has been asleep on their skates. It's time for you and Torts to hit the highway, you have both worn out your welcome

This is a critical time and test for Coach. The Club is suffering, yes, but if he loses this guy then the Bolts' problems obviously run deeper than is allowed to print.

Deja Vu. Didnt we just see this story yesterday?
What is there to contemplate? They already sent him home. Was this so he could spend time with his baby? Dont think so. That only leads me to believe his future has already been decided.
