LARGO - Larry McManning was arrested Sunday for the seventh time since 1981 on charges of sexual abuse or indecent exposure. McManning, 52, is a registered sex offender who served nine years in prison in the 1990s for lewd and lascivious assault on a child. He was released from jail just two months ago after spending about three years in jail on similar charges. McManning's most recent arrest occurred Sunday after a Pinellas sheriff's sergeant in an unmarked cruiser saw him loitering on Ulmerton Road, sheriff's officials said. McManning ran to his red van and tried to drive away, but was pulled over by other deputies. Two women approached deputies and said he had exposed himself to them. McManning faces charges of exposing sexual organs, loitering and prowling and fleeing police. He was held at the Pinellas County Jail on Monday in lieu of $16,000 bail. McManning's troubles began in 1981, when he was arrested for indecent exposure in Clearwater. A year later, he was arrested for committing a lewd act in the presence of a girl under 14. McManning pleaded no contest and was sentenced to a year in jail. He was arrested for indecent exposure again in 1988 and received another year in jail. Two years later, McManning was arrested again on charges of indecent exposure and lewd behavior in the presence of a child. He was sentenced to 12 years and six months. He was released in June 1999, but was arrested the next month on two more charges of lewd and lascivious behavior in front of a child. However, prosecutors did not pursue those charges and he was released after serving 17 days in jail. McManning's arrest history also includes charges of night prowling, robbery and drug possession.

What's the big deal here? So you are a threat to society and children in general. The ACLU loves to protect people like this scum bag. The real problem is way too many liberal judges!

Great. Seven times he's been arrested and released for sex crimes against children. I think the next time he should be released to the household of the lawyer who successfully defends him, or one of our double-dipping judges. Get it right, fellas.

He should never have been allowed to be a repeat offender 7 times, commit him. It not only hurts the victims but also those who have repaid their debt to society and are trying to live normal lives under the scarlett letter of being an "offender"

Oh, but we we can make him better. He was raised in a bad environment etc etc etc! Sex offender or not, all career criminals need to be locked down or put out of our lives forever! Get rid of the bleeding hearts that want to rehab these losers too!

There should be no question on the outcome of this case. Just lock this nut up and keep him locked up. It is just a matter of time before he does something worst than exposing himself.

Isn't it clear by now that those who commit sexual crimes are mentally ill, and cannot be rehabilitated?? I say lock them all up forever - before they rape or molest.

Cut the guy some slack. Our society worships youth and I think it's a perfectly natural progression to lead to this. I know I've been tempted.
