Brandon guard lands first Division I offer
Tarron Stewart received his first Division I scholarship offer, from Longwood in Virginia, Brandon coach Mark Hermann said. The Lancers (9-22) don't belong to a conference, but their 2007-08 schedule included Boston College and Indiana. The 6-foot guard averaged 16 points as a senior for the Eagles, who reached the Class 5A final four.

Hawks LB now at Wesley Chapel
Aaron Duncan, a backup outside linebacker for Armwood's state semifinal team last season, has transferred to Wesley Chapel.
A Wesley Chapel resident, Duncan said Monday that he moved in part to cut down on his weekly gas expense. He said he lived in Hillsborough upon enrolling at Armwood, but moved to Pasco shortly thereafter and remained at Armwood via special assignment.
As a Hawks junior last fall, Duncan had only 13 tackles, but enjoyed a breakout game five tackles, two sacks in a 36-7 rout of Plant in the third round of the Class 4A playoffs.
Currently, he's competing on Wesley Chapel's 4x400-meter relay team, where he recently ran a 52-second split according to Wildcats coach Brian Colding. He intends to play football for the Wildcats in the fall.
Coach says no egos on this team
Because six Chamberlain softball players have committed to college programs (including three to USF, one to Florida and one to Stanford), you might think Chiefs coach Bob Diez has to worry about all the egos on his talented team. But Diez says that isn't the case.
"They worry about Chamberlain," he said. "... As a matter of fact, since they've committed, they're more relaxed."
So far, winning hasn't been a problem. The Chiefs (7-0), who have been to three straight state final fours, have outscored teams 94-5.
"We're about to hit our tough stretch," Diez said. "In the next few weeks, we'll see how good we are."
