Future marrow donors may add names to registry

Residents interested in donating marrow can add their names to the registry at the Bay to Bay Bone Marrow Drive this weekend at the Jim and Heather Gills YMCA.

Potential donors can register from noon to 6 p.m. on Friday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday at the facility at First Avenue S and 31st Street.

Donors must be between the ages of 18 and 60, in generally good health, and weigh more than 100 pounds. Those with a body mass index greater than 25 percent cannot donate marrow.

New Torah Scroll's dedication Sunday

A new Sefer Torah, or Torah Scroll, will be dedicated Sunday at Congregation B'nai Israel, 300 58th St. N, St. Petersburg. The program will begin at 11:30 a.m. The new Torah Scroll is being given to the synagogue by Tom and Shevy Silverberg in honor of their parents, Jane and Don Silverberg and Nadra and Chaim Charif. The scroll was written by Shmuel Charif, Shevy Silverberg's brother.

Sale of used boats to fund Eckerd team

Used boats including a large selection of power and sailboats and motors, in addition to accessories and electronics, will be sold at a discounted rate Saturday at the 22nd annual Marine Yard Sale at Eckerd College, 4200 54th Ave. S.
