CLEARWATER Pick a name for aquarium's newest otter The Clearwater Marine Aquarium is asking the public to help name the newest member of its North American river otter family. The female otter was rescued by the aquarium's staff on Jan. 23 at the Clearwater Executive Golf Course. The otter was lethargic and dehydrated, abandoned by her mother. Now she is energetic and doing well. The aquarium is requesting a donation of $20 for each name submission. All funds will go toward helping the otter family. The naming contest will be open until March 22. The winner will be invited to the aquarium for an official naming ceremony. To submit a name, go to the aquarium's Web site at SeeWinter.com and click on the "Name Our Otter" link or call (727) 441-1790, ext. 222. Kids can take to the skies Saturday The Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 282 has rescheduled its Young Eagles Flight Rally, which was canceled last weekend because of bad weather. The event gives young people ages 8 to 17 an opportunity to fly with an experienced volunteer pilot. Flights begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Clearwater Airpark, 1000 N Hercules Ave. The rally also will include a pancake breakfast with orange juice and coffee. Visit Clearwater's Young Eagles Flight Rally's Web site at eaa282.org or call Ed Dolezal at (727) 647-2661.
