Rays OF Rocco Baldelli is expected to provide clarity on his playing status and reveal at least some details of his mysterious medical condition today. Baldelli, sidelined since May with hamstring woes, is still having problems with the muscles in his legs. He said there has been no "specific diagnosis," but amid rumors of serious illness he recently ruled out multiple sclerosis, a rare blood disorder or complications from steroids. Baldelli, 26, is likely to acknowledge today he won't be ready to start the season, which allows the Rays to move forward in finding a replacement, but is expected to continue his comeback attempt and not retire, as has been speculated. The Rays have to decide by April 1 on a $6-million option for 2009 or a $4-million buyout.

Rocco, do us Tampa Bay fans a favor give back the money that you owe the Rays and retire. Save us the pain and misery from this team relying on you every year.

I love the people who act like Rocco had a choice in the matter. I'm sure he's thrilled to heal like he's twice his age...please.

Seems like a waste in hindsight, but that's hindsight. Neither Baldelli nor anyone else could've known he'd have health issues, it seems he really wants to play, and, by all indications, he's been a great teammate and steward for the Rays. Ease up.

At least the guy is trying to get healthy. I doubt he gets hurt on purpose. No wonder no one wants to play in Tampa with fans like you guys.

Only on the Rays. I'm glad to have Crawford and Upton (and Gomes who they tried to get rid of), but we waited an awful long time for Rocco,Delmon,and Elijah, apparently for nothing.
