Northside, Dares reach settlement
Bob Dare will not return as Northside Christian's football coach, according to an e-mail sent by the school administration to faculty and parents.
The e-mail said a severance package had been reached with Dare and his wife, Beth, a teacher at the school. Under terms of the agreement, the e-mail said the Dares will seek employment elsewhere. No monetary figure was disclosed and it is not known whether they can discuss their departure.
The Dares were dismissed in early February. Two weeks later, Northside's school board issued a statement that there would be a review. That review is over now that a settlement has been reached.
The latest e-mail said the reason for the Dares' departure was "irreconcilable differences" and that "there was no moral issue involved in the matter whatsoever."
A new coach has been hired, and an announcement is expected this week.
