Globespotting: Battery Park in New York
Published March 16, 2008
Battery Park, New York, May 2007 'You and the Guys’ My dad, Bill Travis, always wanted to see the Statue of Liberty in New York, so we planned a spur-of-the-moment trip. Our tour included Battery Park, where there were lots of people. People were playing instruments like steel drums, and break dancing. It was a bit like a street fair. We saw these guys wearing the same colorful overalls who didn't speak any English. You can't see their striped socks in the photo. They were from Holland, and they were all super tall. I'm 5 foot 6 and the guy behind me isn't standing on a box. My dad asked them if he could take a photo of them with me. He considers the photo the highlight of the tour, even better than the Statue of Liberty. He calls it, "You and the Guys." He just loves it. It makes him laugh. Don't know why . . . Linda Flack of Seminole as told to Fred. W. Wright Jr.
