For many of us, the holiday ornaments are packed up, the tree is out at the curb, and the last of the cookies likely will be eaten this weekend. Even for those who keep the 12 Days of Christmas, today is Epiphany, the 12th day, the end of Christmastide. Another holiday season is over.
Where to send used Christmas cards
Well, here we are in 2001 -- once more. The last time many of us were here was in 1968, when director Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey had us sitting in movie theaters scratching our heads. We haven't met a computer quite like HAL yet, but plenty of us have been bossed around for years by exasperating, chatty toys and the electronics in our cars, so 2001 hasn't changed a lot overall since our last visit.
