Born in Whitman, Mass., she came here 15 years ago from Hanover, Mass., and was a homemaker. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church, Brooksville, the Retreads Motorcycle Group, Inverness, and the National Rifle Association. Survivors include three sons, Scott, Hanover, Jeffrey, Hernando Beach, and Dana, Rockland, Mass.; a daughter, Annette Drake, Brooksville; her mother, Virginia Griswold, Edgewater; two sisters, Charlotte Davenport, Brooksville, and Sharon Grennon, Edgewater; and three grandchildren.   • JONESCU, JOHN JR., 87, of Homosassa Springs, died Saturday (Jan. 13, 2001). Born in Romania, he came here 27 years ago from Detroit. He retired after 36 years of service as a body shop supervisor at Ford Motor Co., Dearborn, Mich. He was Romanian Orthodox, an Army veteran of World War II and member of the American Veterans Post 53, Lavonia, Mich. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.   • ROSS, ALBERT, 72, of Beverly Hills, died Saturday (Jan. 13, 2001) at Tampa General Hospital. Born in Camden, N.J., he came here 37 years ago from Ohio. He was an avid musician, member of the Inverness Church of God and a Navy veteran of World War II.   • WARD, ROYCE CLIFFORD JR., 82, of Hernando, died Sunday (Jan. 14, 2001) at home under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. He was a hospital laboratory technician and an Army veteran of World War II. He was Episcopalian, a member and past president of the Inverness Eagles Aerie 3992 and member of Inverness VFW Post 4337, where he served as chaplain and honor guard. He was a law enforcement officer for more than 40 years, he retired from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office and was a member of First Baptist Church of Brandon. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he came here 19 years ago from Uniondale, N.Y., and was a wholesale milk deliveryman for a private dairy. He was a member of St. James the Apostle Catholic Church, the VFW, Port Richey, and the American Legion, New Port Richey. He was an Army veteran of World War II, surviving the Normandy invasion, wounded in combat and received two Bronze Stars. She was a member of the Richland Baptist Church and one of the original founders of the Girl Scouts, Zephyrhills. She, with her husband, Harry, helped transfer the Hercules Powder Co. property to the Pasco County School Board, now the site of the Woodland Elementary School and the Hercules Aquatic Center. She was a co-owner of the Sun Cap Restaurant on Fourth Street in St. Petersburg for 30 years, retiring in 1993. She worked for Publix Super Markets until last year. She was a telephone operator for GTE, retiring in 1975 after 35 years.     • RENSEL, ANNE MARRON, 82, of Madrid, Spain, formerly of St. Petersburg, died Friday (Dec. 22, 2000) in Spain, a family member said. Born in Washington, D.C., she came here in 1927 from Virginia. She was a 1937 graduate of St. Petersburg High School and attended Tomlinson Vocational School, St. Petersburg. During World War II, she was a member of the WAVES. She moved to Madrid in the 1950s and spent many years as the chief secretary to the commander of the Torrejon Air Force Base, Madrid. She was an author, writing several books of poetry and published novels, including Fire and Ice. Survivors include two sisters, Mary Stiles, St. Petersburg, and Katherine Rushing, Seminole; five children; many grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
    • SCRUGGS, SIDNEY ERNEST, 87, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday (Jan. 13, 2001) at Pasadena Manor, South Pasadena. He came here in 1932 from his native Waynesboro, Ga. He was a retired truck driver for Florida Rock Corp. He was a member of Bethel AME Church, where he was a past trustee and a past president of the Gospel Chorus. He organized the Harmony Four Quartet, which performed daily of WSUN-AM radio. He organized the Golden Clouds Quartet, which performed throughout Florida and made television appearances. He sponsored local and national singing groups, including the Dixie Humingbirds, the Soul Stirrers, the Morgan Bab, and the Nightingales. Survivors include wife of 57 years, Violet; a son, Stephen, and a daughter, Valerie Memon-Tyrell, both of St. Petersburg; two sisters, Lurlie Walton, Waynesboro, and Ethel Dennis, Miami; five grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was a teacher at Ridgecrest Elementary School and retired from Happy Workers Kindergarten in the 1970s.     • STONE, NATHANIEL A., 33, of St. Petersburg, died Thursday (Jan. 11, 2001) in St. Petersburg as the result of a shooting. He was active with Americorps, the Juvenile Services Program and Operation PAR.     • WATERS, WARREN E., 84, of Palm Harbor, formerly of Largo and St. Petersburg, died Friday (Jan. 12, 2001) at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater. He was born in Yonkers, N.Y., and came here in 1981 from Concord, N.H. A lawyer, he served as attorney general of New Hampshire, chairman of the New Hampshire Public Utilities Commission and justice of the Concord (N.H.) District Court. He retired in 1983 as a partner of the law firm of Cleveland, Waters & Bass, Concord. He graduated from University of New Hampshire and Boston University School of Law. He was an Army veteran of World War II in the European Theater and retired in 1976 with the rank of lieutenant colonel in the Judge Advocate General's Corps (JAG) as a member of the New Hampshire National Guard. He was a member of the American and the New Hampshire Bar associations. He was a Mason, a member of the Retired Officers Association and the Navy League, the Clearwater Yacht Club, and the Honorary Order of Kentucky Colonels. Survivors include his wife, Gloria H., Belleair Bluffs; a son, William L., St. Petersburg; a daughter, Nancy L.     • MYERS, EARL ANDREW, 82, of Walnut Creek, Calif., formerly of Treasure Island, died Saturday (Jan. 6, 2001) in Walnut Creek. He moved to Treasure Island in 1972. He moved to France in 1999 and to Walnut Creek in 1999. He was a Navy veteran, worked for OSS and then the Central Intelligence Agency. he worked for the State Department and was an attache to the U.S. Embassy in Switzerland. He was an avid sailor. Survivors include his wife, Annette, France; a daughter, Jessica Fullerton; three sons; Patrick, James and Kenneth; five grandchildren, Kimberly Rodriguez, Alexandra Myers, Patrick Myers, Vanessa Cardenas and Richard Fullerton; and three great-grandchildren, Maya Rodriguez, Gabriella Rodriguez, and Cooper Cardenas.
