  • CROWE, ARTHUR E., 87, of Beverly Hills, died Sunday (Feb. 11, 2001). Born in Lansing, Mich., he was a winter resident for 28 years from Benzonia, Mich. He was retired from C and J Transport of Lansing, Mich., as a driver for 25 years, and was a member of the Church of God. Survivors include his wife, May Bowerman; two sons, Donald W., Beverly Hills, and Rolland D., Ocala; a daughter, Betty L.   • DAMON-SOLONY, MICHELE, 32, of Inverness, died Tuesday (Feb. 13, 2001) at Citrus Memorial Hospital. Born in Hampton, Va., she moved from Port Richey to Inverness seven months ago.   • GUSTAVSON, GORDON "GUS," 75, of Lecanto, died Saturday (Feb. 10, 2001) at the VA Medcial Center, Gainesville. Born in Chicago, he moved here 28 years ago from Frostproof and was owner and operator of a soil hauling business. He was a Marine Corps veteran, life member of the Inverness Elks Lodge, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.   • BAXTER, EVE D., 65, of New Port Richey, died Monday (Feb. 12, 2001) at North Bay Hospital. Born in Ingham Township, Mich., she moved here 39 years ago from Lansing, Mich. She was a paralegal for 30 years employed by Richard Milbauer. She was a professional guardian, a lifetime member of the National Honor Society and Rainbow Girls, Lansing Chapter, and charter member of the West Pasco Legal Secretaries Association. In 1980, she was the first sworn woman police officer for the city of Tarpon Springs. She maintained the records for the West Elfers Cemetery since 1962 and donated all records to Pasco County. For this work, she received a commendation from the Pasco Board of County Commissioners. Survivors include her son, Victor Alceniu, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and one granddaughter. He was a dredging captain for the Panama Canal Co. and a member of Church of the Transfiguration Catholic church, Master Mates and Pilots Union in St. Petersburg and the Panama Canal Society.     • PERRELL, CAREY A., 70, of Crystal River, formerly of St. Petersburg, died Saturday (Feb. 10, 2001) at Seven Rivers Community Hospital, Crystal River. Born in Waterville, Maine, he moved to Crystal River eight years ago from St. Petersburg, where he had lived since 1948. He was the owner of a restaurant and lounge business in St. Petersburg and was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was past commander, chaplain, honor guard member and life member of American Legion Post 155 of Crystal River, a life member of VFW Post 8189, and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 2013 and St. Benedict's Catholic Church. Survivors include four daughters, Cynthia Perrell, Stetson, Maine, Candace Ellis, Levant, Maine, and Stephanie Carey and Star Stafford, both of Pinellas Park; two brothers, Richard Carey, Belgrade, Maine, and James Carey, Leesburg; and five grandchildren.     • PRYOR, JEAN E., 83, of St. Petersburg, died Monday (Feb. 12, 2001) at home. Born in Chicago, she came here in 1965 from Oak Lawn, Ill., where she was a bookkeeper. Locally, she was a cashier at Morrison's Cafeteria for 20 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Good Hope Old Roman Catholic Church.     • SANDERSON, LESTER E., 81, of St. Petersburg, died Monday (Feb. 12, 2001) at home under hospice care. Born in Creston, Ill., he came here in 1980 from Illinois. He was the founder and chairman of Blackhawk Engraving Co., a photoengraving company in Oregon, Ill., that grew to employ nearly 800 workers in six plants, including Blackhawk Color Corp. of Clearwater. He was an avid golfer. He was a utility engineer with the Port Authority of New York for more than 32 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of First Wesleyan Church in Jersey City. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Helen Coleman Snowden; a son, Alexander G. She was a retired teacher for the Pinellas County school system, and a school volunteer for 20 years after her retirement. She was a member of Palm Lake Christian Church.     • BLAIR, DORA LEE, 79, of Treasure Island, died Thursday (Feb. 8, 2001). Born in Winston-Salem, N.C., she came to Florida in 1962. She was a member of Waughtown Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, AARP, the international civic sorority Beta Sigma Phi and National Association of Retired Federal Employees.     • HALL, RALPH, 82, of St. Pete Beach, died Monday (Feb. 12, 2001) at College Harbor Retirement Center. A native of Summit, N.J., he came here in 1988 from Sea Girt, N.J. He was a salesman for the Duo-Fast Corp., Long Island, N.Y. He attended Pass-a-Grille Community Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post 432, the Veterans of the Foreign Wars and the Elks Club, all in Manasquan, N.J. He was a volunteer for the Sea Girt Fire Police and the Chatham Township Fire Department, both in New Jersey. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Dorothy; a son, Norman C., and a daughter, Barbara Hillman, both of Sea Girt; four grandchildren, Eric Hillman, Greg Hillman, Sandy Hall and Melissa Hall, all of Sea Girt.
