Editor: The apartments at Park Richey have become just like an inner-city slum. Before their construction, I inquired about an apartment there for my elderly father. The rents quoted were $600-plus per month, a figure that my father could never afford. Now, not only do I see welfare recipients living there, I know several of them. What happened was when they built them, nobody would or could afford to pay such high rents, so the landlords started contracting with the Department of Family Services to put welfare recipients in the apartments.

It's official: School will be Trinity Elementary
An elementary school under construction in the Trinity subdivision will be named, aptly, Trinity Elementary School. Pasco County School Board members approved the name Tuesday night, although nobody seemed completely taken by it. Board chairwoman Pam Coulter cast the tie-breaking vote. "Trinity Elementary? Sure. Yeah," Coulter said before casting her vote.
