Steeplechase pre-race party set for Saturday
Pioneer Florida Museum Association Inc. and Dade City Family YMCA invite the community to the Little Everglades Steeplechase Foundation's Annual Pre-Race Party on Saturday at Florida Pioneer Museum, 15602 Pioneer Museum Road, Dade City. Cocktails and a cash bar begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $75 per person, $150 per couple. The theme is Western and a silent auction will be held. The event will benefit the museum and YMCA. Plenty of livestock awards roped in
Parker Capparelli sold his grand champion hog to the Lazy D Ranch for $11 a pound at the recent Pasco County Fair. In the showmanship division, Kayla Barthle, Lara Dewees and Melissa Altman each won a first place ribbon in their age division for their hogs. In the steer show, Chad Abraham of the Progressive 4-H Club sold his grand champion steer for $5.10 a pound to Farmers Feed, Community National Bank and Simpsons Farm. Jessica Graham won the grand champion award for her Guernsey cow in the youth dairy show. She also took home the reserve grand champion award for her Holstein dairy cow. Britney Barthle of the Possum Trot 4-H Club won the championship in the calf division of the unregistered heifer show and the Dade City Senior FFA Chapter won overall grand champion. In the registered show, Sarabeth Barthle won the champion award for her calf and Chris Barthle of the Dade City FFA won the overall grand champion award for his calf. In the registered bull show, the grand champion ribbon went to Britney Barthle of the Possum Trot 4-H Club.
