Editor: Citrus County is made up of a large group of retired residents living on fixed incomes. To many, the 1 percent sales tax the County Commission is considering will be a heavy burden. The commission has put this on the ballot not once, but twice, and it was defeated. They now think they can repackage it for yet another use and have it passed.

16 students excel in business skills contest
INVERNESS -- Sixteen Citrus High School students placed in competition at the Future Business Leaders of America District Leadership Conference on Feb. 15 in Ocala. The top three qualifiers in each category are eligible to compete at the state level April 10 in Orlando.

MORE ALIKE THAN DIFFERENT DAY: Citrus Springs Elementary School's exceptional student education is offering a "More Alike Than Different Day" along with a PAW's for Reading assembly for parents and the public from 8:45 a.m. to 2:35 p.m. April 10 at the school. The program will include two opportunities to attend a PAW's for Reading assembly. PAW's for Reading is a fundraiser to train animals for people who are sight- or hearing-impaired or have seizures. The conference also will include strategies for parents to use with ADD/ADHD children, functional behavioral assessment information, and communication techniques and strategies.
