Boat slips available for rent at marina in Treasure Island
TREASURE ISLAND -- The city has completed renovations and upgrades to the municipal marina next to City Hall at 120 108th Ave. The city has 12 boat slips available for rent. Each slip can accommodate vessels up to 45 feet long.

Fire station plan clears hurdle
LEALMAN -- The fire board has some good news. Its request for about $2.2-million in Penny for Pinellas money to build a new fire station has made it past the first cut.

Relay for Life events planned
Relay for Life 2001, an overnight, community-based, fundraising event for the American Cancer Society is designed to celebrate cancer survivorship as well as to raise money. Relay for Life will be held on a number of different dates and in various Pinellas and Hillsborough county sites.

Focus on volunteers

Loyalty, levity reign at Suncoasters ball
The Suncoasters were in a celebratory mood at the annual Coronation Ball on Friday night, buoyed by perfect weather for their Festival of States week. Packing the Coliseum with a crowd is no small feat, but 750 loyalists turned out for the party, which did not even begin until 8:30 p.m.
