  • ALISIO, MARY C., 95, of Homosassa, died Saturday (April 14, 2001) at Windsor Woods Convalescent Center, Bayonet Point. Born in Paterson, N.J., she came here four years ago from Bloomingdale, Ill., and was a homemaker. She was Catholic. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Barrington, R.I., a member of the Rosary Society of St. Nicholas Church in Egg Harbor, N.J.   • HOOD, JOSEPHINE A., 86, of Crystal River, died Sunday (April 15, 2001) at the Life Care Center in Lecanto. Born in Red Lodge, Mont., she came here four years ago from Denver. She was a retired schoolteacher with the New York State School System and member of the Retired Teachers Association. She was Catholic. Survivors include her husband, Lester J.; two sons, Charles Hale, Elizabeth, N.J., and Paul Hale, Logan, Utah; a daughter, Sharon Hale, Los Angeles; two brothers and a sister; and three grandchildren.   • McCANN, THOMAS ROBERT, 79, of Inverness, died Friday (April 13, 2001) at home under the care of his family and Hospice of Citrus County. Born in Waterford, N.Y., he came here nine years ago from Vancleavee, Miss. He retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Miss., as director of program design for Ticonderoga class Navy cruisers. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a graduate of George Washington University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and a master's degree in engineering administration. He was a member of the USS Block Island Association and the American Legion Post 77 in Inverness. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Inverness. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Florence; six sons, Bob, Tallahassee, John, Miramar, Barry and Dennis, both of Chantilly, Va., Jim, Santa Barbara, Calif., and Brian, Mobile, Ala.; a daughter, Cathy Martell, Lakewood, Colo.; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Quinlan, Kensington, Md.; 10 nephews and nieces; and 13 grandchildren. Born in Jersey City, he came here several years ago from New Jersey. He was a retired truck driver in the transportation industry and member of the Ostomy Club of Inverness. Survivors include his wife, Rita (Amalfitano); two sons, Daniel James, Bushnell, and William Joseph, West Long Branch, N.J.; a daughter, Paula Lee, Edison, N.J.; and two grandchildren.   • WICKWIRE, NORMA VIRLEE, 79, of Inverness, died Saturday (April 14, 2001) at home under the care of her family and hospice. Born in Corning, Iowa, she came here 14 years ago from St. Petersburg. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and former "Mother of the Year" of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary. In 1997, she was installed in the Guinness Book of World Records as having the largest number of artificial joints in the world. She was known as the "Bionic Grandma" and featured on radio and television shows including Inside Edition. Survivors include two daughters, Judy Rae Muldrow, Inverness, and Sandy Palmer, Duluth, Ga.; a brother, Harold Brown, Des Moines, Iowa; a sister, Mary Loudon, Creston, Iowa; and four grandchildren. Trucking in Colonie, N.Y., and was a Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion, member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, a firefighter in Wynantskill and member of Parents Without Partners. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Beverly Hills. Survivors include his wife, Sally A. (Fuelner); five sons, Kevin R. Wright, Lebanon, N.Y., Kelly C. Wright, Troy, N.Y., Korey R. He was a retired Realtor for Fleck Realty and a Marine Corps veteran. He was a member of the American Legion 0186, a member of the 5th Marine Division Association, a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars 10209 and a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity.   • HOUDE, PROTO DEACON JOSEPH EDWARD, 72, of Spring Hill, died Friday (April 13, 2001) at Hernando Pasco Hospice Care Unit in Brooksville. Born in Bridgeport, Conn., he came here 10 years ago from Derby, Conn. He retired as a quality control director of the Department of the Navy at Sikorsky Helicopter in Stratford, Conn. He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II and served in the South Pacific. He was past fire captain of the Storm's Volunteer Fire Engine Company of Derby, past exalted ruler of the Elks Lodge 571 of Derby, a member of the Elks Lodge 2582 in Brooksville, and a member of the Timber Pines Men's Golf Association. He was deacon of Three Saints Orthodox Church in Ansonia, pastoral adviser of the Griffin Hospital in Derby, and a deacon of St. Andrew's Orthodox Church of New Port Richey. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the Royal Order of Moose in Riverview and the Church of the Nazarene.     • GOODEMOTE, DENIS W., 76, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday (April 14, 2001) at Suncoast Manor Health Center. Born in West Valley, N.Y., he came here in 1977 from Olean, N.Y. He was a front desk attendant at Suncoast Manor, where he also played the keyboard for residents. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 305, St. Pete Beach, and Elks Lodge 2519, Seminole. He was a member of St. Mary Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.     • MAY, IRENE R., 86, of St. Petersburg, died Saturday (April 14, 2001) at St. Petersburg General Hospital after a short illness. She was born in Iron River, Mich., and came here 39 years ago from Panama Canal Zone. She retired as a unit secretary for St. Petersburg General Hospital where she worked for 17 years. She was a member of Northwest Presbyterian Church in St. Petersburg, the Kenneth City Woman's Club and Order of the Eastern Star in Fern Leaf, Panama Canal Zone. She was an avid card player and seamstress. Survivors include two daughters, Mary Alice Osgood, Largo, and Judith Reed, Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y.; three granddaughters, Maija Reed-Shepard, Peekskill, N.Y., and Danielle Osgood and Dawn Osgood, both of Largo; two grandsons, John A.     • POWELL, WILLIAM H. JR. "BILL," 67, of St. Petersburg, died Monday (April 16, 2001) at Bayfront Medical Center. He came here in 1935 from his native Williston. He retired as a major from the Marine Corps after 23 years. He was a Vietnam veteran. He was the director of emergency road service administration at AAA Auto Club South, St. Petersburg, for 20 years. He was a 1952 graduate of St. Petersburg High School. He was a member of Second Wind, Tampa, and Fifth Avenue Baptist Church, St. Petersburg. Survivors include his wife, Barbara J.; two sons, Robert William Powell, St. Petersburg, and James L. He worked for his family's business, Puckett's Store Fixtures, for 20 years. He worked in sports broadcasting for ABC, HBO and ESPN television stations. He covered sporting events throughout the nation and world. Survivors include his father, Bill, a brother, Bret, a sister, Casey Brook, and a nephew, Ian McPhee, all of St. Petersburg. R. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, where she was active with the Altar Guild and the choir, and worked in the children's day care program.
