MILKE-VIECACHORE, JULIA T., 86, of Beverly Hills, died Tuesday (April 17, 2001) in Inverness. Born in Warsaw, Poland, she came to the United States in 1929. She came here 22 years ago from Detroit after she cruised the Great Lakes for 20 years with her husband and children. She enjoyed singing with Our Lady of Grace Choir and the Beverly Chorale. She attended the Detroit Business Institute and was a member of Lieta, a Polish musical society. Survivors include her husband, Stanley Viecachore; a son, Lawrence H. Milke, Shelby Township, Mich.; a daughter, Elaine Milke Herchock, St. Claire Shores, Mich.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Hooper Funeral Homes and Crematory, Beverly Hills.
PIERCE, FRED, 55, of Floral City, died Wednesday (April 18, 2001) at home under the care of his wife and Hospice of Citrus County. Born in Peoria, Ill., he came here four years ago from Hudson. He worked for Caterpillar Heavy Equipment before starting his own business as a landscape designer. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving two tours. He achieved the rank of second lieutenant. His military awards included the Combat Infantry Badge, a Silver Star, two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart. He attended Bradley University in Peoria and Officers Training School at Fort Benning, Ga. Survivors include his wife, Lizbeth Ann; two sons, Khrystophyr Elkins, Biloxi, Miss., and John D. WALSH, HELEN L., 71, of Inverness, died Friday (April 20, 2001) in Inverness. Born in Newark, N.J., she moved to Floral City in 1980 from East Keansburg, N.J., before moving to Inverness. She was a gasoline station manager and member of the Inverness Moose Lodge. She attended Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Survivors include two daughters, Colleen Agrifolio, Inverness, and Karen Edwards, Middletown, N.J.; a sister, Joan Brown, Inverness; and eight grandchildren. CALES, FRANCISCA, 90, of Spring Hill, died Sunday (April 15, 2001) at Oak Hill Hospital. Born in Guayanilla, Puerto Rico, she came here five months ago from Lebanon, Pa. CIUFO, PETER, 45, of Spring Hill, died Tuesday (April 17, 2001) at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he came here 12 years ago from Long Island, N.Y. He was an automobile salesman and a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. CONNELLY, EUGENE "GENE," 70, of Cloverleaf Forest, died Thursday (April 19, 2001) at Brooksville Regional Hospital. Born in Marion, Ind., he came here seven years ago from Fort Lauderdale, where he was a human resources manager for the Broward County School System for eight years. He was an Army veteran and attended First Church of God in Bushnell. Survivors include his wife, Joann; two sons, Gary, Bushnell, and Steve, Minneapolis; a daughter, Colleen Wingerter, Brooksville; and a brother, Ted, Marion. National Cremation Society, Brooksville.
FOTH, ORVILLE E., 83, of Spring Hill, died Sunday (April 15, 2001) at Evergreen Woods Health Care Center. Born in Spencer, Wis., he came here 26 years ago from Morton Grove, Ill. He was a retired custodian for Evanston High School. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10209. He attended Holy Cross Lutheran Church. IWERSEN, HENRY MILLER, 91, of Dade City, died Wednesday (April 18, 2001) at home. He came here 46 years ago from his native Seffner. He was a rancher, a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and a member of the Sons of the Confederacy. He was Methodist. MacKAY, RODERICK C., 71, of Timber Pines, died Thursday (April 19, 2001) at home. Born in Detroit, he came here 13 years ago from Grosse Ile, Mich. He was a retired chemical engineer for BASF and was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was Catholic. Survivors include his wife, Janet; a son, Brian, Clearwater; two daughters, Jalaine Jacobus and Shannon MacKay, both of Spring Hill; and three grandchildren. COMER, CECIL L., 79, of Plant City, died Thursday (April 19, 2001). Born in Ashtabula County, Ohio, he came here in 1982 from Big Rapids, Mich. HELMS, QUENTIN R. "BRUCE," 85, of Oldsmar, died Thursday (April 19, 2001) at Town 'N Country Hospital. Born in Hanceville, Ala., he came here from Birmingham, Ala., in 1962. He was a superintendent for Bumby & Stimpson, was a member of Acipco Masonic Lodge, Birmingham, and a member of Tampa Shores Baptist Church. JOHNSON, NETTIE HAGIN "MAMA NETTIE," 88, of Plant City, died Wednesday (April 18, 2001) at Community Convalescent Center. She was a lifelong resident of the area. She was a peeling machine operator for Kraft Foods and a charter member of Turkey Creek Assembly of God. TAYLOR, ELBRIDGE M. "BUCK," 73, of Tampa, died Thursday (April 12, 2001) at home. Born in Tampa, he left the area in 1952 and came back in 1999 from Pennsylvania. He worked for four years with Seaboard Railroad in Tampa and three years with the Nolan Co. in Atlanta. He began a 35-year career with Westinghouse Electric Corp. in 1956, where he was assigned to the Athens, Ga., operations for procurement and administration. In 1962 he was transferred to Baltimore, where his responsibilities included the construction of the first facility in the United States for production of molecular electronics. After several more assignments, he was assigned to Shiraz, Iran, and returned to Hunt Valley, Md., where he completed his career in various executive assignments. He was also a Marine veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of Riverhills Church of God, Tampa Lodge No. 240 F & AM, Temple Shrine of Baltimore and the Carroll County Economic Development Commission. He was president of Sykesville Rotary Club and Western Maryland Shrine and was director of the South Carroll Republican Club of Maryland. In the early 1970s, he was appointed Admiral of the Chesapeake Bay by Gov. Spiro Agnew. Survivors include his wife, Sarah K.; a son, Elbridge M. III, Vero Beach; two daughters, Marsha Higgs, Pompano Beach, and Deborah Cooke, Hanover, Pa.; two sisters, Barbara Ash, Seminole, and Shirley Meadows, Tampa; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. THOMPSON, WILLIAM RAY, 66, of Zephyrhills, died Wednesday (April 18, 2001) at Hospice of Pasco in Dade City. Born in Sullivan County, Tenn., he moved to Zephyrhills 33 years ago from Tampa. He was an automobile mechanic and a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was Baptist. HENDRICKS, CARL F., 73, of Port Richey, died Friday (April 20, 2001) at Madison Pointe Nursing Center, New Port Richey. He came here 12 years ago from his native Newark, Ohio. He was an electronics technician and an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8681 in Brooksville and a member of First Baptist Church in Newark. He was a mechanic with the Brewster, N.Y., Central School District and was an Army veteran of World War II. He attended St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. - THOMSON, DR. WILLIAM G., 82, of St. Petersburg and Olivet, Mich., died Wednesday (April 18, 2001) at St. Anthony's Hospital. He was born in Detroit and came here in 1962 to become an associate professor of classics at Florida Presbyterian College, now Eckerd College. In 1966, he was named director of continuing studies and summer school. He directed Upward Bound, a federal program for high school students. From 1988 to 2000, he served as an adjunct professor in the Eckerd College Program for Experienced Learners. In St. Petersburg, he was involved in the Community Alliance, in forming the Episcopal Diocese of Southwest Florida and in founding Boley Manor. He was an accomplished pianist and contract bridge player. He served in the Army in World War II. He was a graduate of Olivet College and received a master's degree from Cornell University and a doctorate in education from the University of Michigan. He taught at Olivet, Wayne State University and Heidelberg College. He was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, St. Petersburg.
