Aromatherapy in the kitchen
What could be worse than cleaning? How about the smell of most cleaning products?
The box that launched a thousand soaps
Oxydol was introduced in 1914, named for the oxygen in the bleach that was a key ingredient, and was sold to the Procter & Gamble Co. in 1927. It was the sponsor of Ma Perkins, one of the first radio dramas, which quickly became known as "soap operas" because of their sponsors, but sales of the home, dish and laundry soap have dropped in recent years. Last year P&G sold the brand to two company executives to market on their own. (P&G continues to manufacture the product for them.) A 28-ounce box is $5.95 at Restoration Hardware, Hyde Park Village and Citrus Park Town Center.

Printed tribute book a rare find
Among a treasure trove of memorabilia passed down from one generation to another in Robert McKay Steele's family, memorial books commemorating the lives of Horace McKay and his daughter, Cornelia, stand out as exceptional genealogical finds.
How foot-mouth disease spreads
Question: All of this foot-and-mouth disease (or hoof-and-mouth disease?) scare overseas makes me worry as much as having mad cow disease. I wonder why they fear that it is spreading so much after they destroyed so many infected animals. I thought the virus died quickly when the animals were killed and burned.
