Government asks that Microsoft be divided
WASHINGTON -- Determined to change the rules of competition in the software industry, the Justice Department and 17 states asked a federal judge Friday to break the Microsoft Corp. into two parts and seriously restrain its behavior while the breakup is being carried out.
Gunman kills five in Pittsburgh area
McKEES ROCKS, Pa. -- A white man opened fire in several suburban Pittsburgh communities Friday, killing five people and critically wounding a sixth in what police called a racially motivated shooting rampage. The man was taken into custody.
