INVERNESS -- Adults hoping to become adoptive parents and children being raised in the state's foster parent program got a chance to meet each other Saturday at a family-style picnic organized by the Department of Children and Families.

Citrus County Bar celebrates Law Week with a series of programs for residents
The Citrus County Bar Association holds its annual observance of Law Week starting today with a series of programs titled: Celebrate Your Freedom. Speak Up for Democracy. Speak Up for Diversity. The following is a schedule of some of the week's events:

Impact fees prove poor joke material
Local activist Chris Lloyd addressed the County Commission last week during a special workshop concerning impact fees. Lloyd tossed out an off-hand joke as he prepared to deliver his remarks but received only silence and blank stares in return from the weary commissioners, who by that time had talked about impact fees for the better part of a day.
