BOONE, MELVIN E., 75, of Inverness, died Thursday (May 11, 2000). Born in Miami, He came here 22 years ago from St. Petersburg and was a carpenter for the construction industry. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, a Baptist and life member of VFW Post 4252, Hernando. Survivors include his wife, Sarah "Joanne"; a son, Daniel, St. Petersburg; a daughter, Deborah Vaughan, Lakeland; two brothers, Elmo, Hernando, and James, St. Petersburg; and six grandchildren. Chas. NORVELL, LESLIE, 76, of Beverly Hills, died Friday (May 12, 2000). He came here five years ago from his native Memphis, Tenn., and was retired after 35 years as a utility inspector for the International Harvester Corp. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Congregation Beth Shalom, Beverly Hills, and Anshei-Sphard-Beth-El-Emeth, Memphis. KELLEY, JOSH LEE, 72, of Brooksville, died Tuesday (May 9, 2000) at home. Born in Butler, Okla., he came here several years ago from Loves Park, Ill., and was an instructor for an electrical company. MESHAN, VINCENT R., of Spring Hill, died Friday (May 12, 2000) at home. Born in Yonkers, N.Y., he came here 27 years ago from Seaford, N.Y., and was a retired loan administrator for the Veterans Administration. He was a retired Army first lieutenant and a veteran of World War II. He was past president of the Hernando County Blood Bank, an organizer of the Citizens of West Hernando Community Hospital and founding chairman of the Board of Trustees for Oak Hill Hospital. He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church and its Mens Club, Sertoma, West Hernando, DAV, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and AARP and a former board member of Lykes Hospital. REIS, JOHN R., 69, of Timber Pines, Spring Hill, died Friday (May 12, 2000) at home. Born in Syracuse, N.Y., he came here eight years ago from Massachusetts and was a manufacturing production planner for GTE Electronics, Taunton, Mass. FOY, JOHN HENRY III, 28, of Seffner, died Thursday (May 11, 2000). He was owner and operator of Air-Tech Tire Service. He was a lifelong resident of Seffner. SIZEMORE, D'BETTE M., 53, of Tampa, died Friday (May 12, 2000) at Tampa General Hospital. She was born in La Follette, Tenn., and moved to Tampa in 1970 from Daytona Beach. Born in Glen Ullin, N.D., she came here 20 years ago from Riverview, Mich., and was a retired bookkeeper. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hudson. HURLEY, CARL F., 76, of Clearwater, died Monday (May 8, 2000) at home. He came here in 1978 from his native North Adams, Mass. He worked 32 years as an assembler for General Electric in Pittsfield, Mass. He was a member of North Adams Methodist Church and an avid traveler. Survivors include his wife, Nancy L.; a son, Carl F. RABIROFF, CAROL LAWRENCE, 67, of Clearwater, died Wednesday (May 10, 2000) at Arbors at St. Petersburg. She was born in New Rochelle, N.Y., and came here in 1988 from Long Island, N.Y. ZABRISKIE, ROSE S. BENSON, 76, of Clearwater, died Tuesday (May 9, 2000) at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater. She was born in Bloomington, Ill., and came here in 1957. She graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University, where she was a member of Sigma Kappa and editor of the Argus newspaper. She was a member and organist at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Clearwater, where she served as president of the Relief Society. She was also a temple worker in the Atlanta and Orlando temples. He owned Cabinets By Design, Safety Harbor. He was an Army veteran and a Baptist. - WALTERS, RALPH W., 89, of Dunedin, died Thursday (May 11, 2000) at Mease Dunedin Hospital. He was born in Knox County, Ind., and came here in 1972 from Freelandville, Ind. He worked 25 years in public service for the power plant in Edwardsport, Ind. He was an associate member of the Kirk of Dunedin. His memberships included Bethel United Church of Christ, Indiana, American Legion Post 0192, Edwardsport, and Disabled American Veterans. - KUCHTA, EVELYN C. "AUNTIE EV," 88, of Fort Worth, Texas, formerly of Largo, died Saturday (May 6, 2000) at Alta Mesa Nursing Center, Fort Worth. She moved to Largo in 1961 from her native Cleveland and last November moved from Largo to Fort Worth. She was a private duty nurse's aide and had worked for Mease Manor in Dunedin. She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Largo, and sang in its choir. Survivors include a sister, Mary Jane Moody, Fort Worth; a brother, James Kotapish, Chagrin Falls, Ohio; 15 nieces and nephews; a grandson; and three great-grandchildren. - BARTLETT, RUTH S., 89, of Palm Harbor, died Sunday (May 7, 2000) at St. Mark Village, Palm Harbor. She was born in Vienna, Ill., and came here in 1974 from Paxton, Ill. She owned and operated a grocery store in Montgomery, Ill., for many years. She was a member of the Kirk of Dunedin. Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Tibbitts, Madison, Conn, and Diane Commes, Chagrin Falls, Ohio; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Tibbitts, West Hartford, Conn., Kathryn Burt, New Canaan, Conn., Jennifer Commes and Elizabeth Faremouth, both of Chagrin Falls; and five great-grandchildren. PURVIS, LURLINE H., 86, of Gulfport, died Thursday (May 11, 2000) at St. Anthony's Hospital, St. Petersburg. She came here in 1983 from her native New York City, where she graduated from City College of New York and received a master's degree from Hunter College. She was an elementary school teacher, an assistant principal and a supervisor for the New York City Board of Education before retiring in 1979. She was a volunteer guide at Brooklyn Botanical Gardens. - REED, THOMAS BEAVERS III "TOBY," 49, of Madeira Beach, died Thursday (May 11, 2000) in St. Petersburg after a long illness. Born in Macon, Ga., he came here in 1961 from Miami. He was a night club manager and a member of First United Methodist Church, St. Petersburg. He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. Survivors include a son, Thomas B. - SHIELDS, LEONA BELLMER, 95, of Madeira Beach, died Tuesday (May 9, 2000) at Boca Ciega Center, Gulfport. Born in Ossining, N.Y., she came here in 1952 from Pleasantville, N.Y., and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Anne of Grace Episcopal Church, the White Shrine of Jerusalem and the Order of the Amaranth. - FREDRIC, MARJORIE MAY "MARGE," 88, of Fort Worth, Texas, formerly of St. Petersburg, died Friday (May 12, 2000) in Fort Worth. Born in Vancouver, Wash., she moved to St. Petersburg in 1960 from Denver. While in St. Petersburg, she was a sales counselor for Memorial Park Cemetery. She moved to Fort Worth in 1988.
