Austria's telegenic racist
Jorg Haider, of the right-wing Freedom Party in Austria, has officially stepped down as leader. While it's good that the telegenic, even appealing (in an Aryan sort of way) Haider will no longer be fronting their distasteful, racist, anti-Semitic agenda, his party is still in the coalition government of Austria and his ideas are washing over Austria's borders, both east and west.
Environmental heroes
Sens. Jack Latvala, Tom Lee and a handful of other Republicans blocked their party's worst initiatives, but the battle could be even uglier next year.

Drought means we must scale back daily water consumption
With each day that passes without rain, the water situation becomes more dangerous. Tampa Bay area residents should be aware of the dire need to cut back their consumption to meet the current record demand. This cutback can help to curb more drastic measures in future water restrictions.
