  • ALLEN, PAULINE E., 76, of Lecanto, died Monday (May 22, 2000) at home. Born in Inverness, she was a lifelong resident of Lecanto and member of Gulf to Lake Baptist Church, Crystal River. She was a member of the board of directors of the Key Training Center, the Citrus Cattleman's Association and the United Daughters of American Confederates, and supporter of the FFA and 4H. Survivors include two sons, Horace "Bud," Crystal River, and Phillip "Tinker," Lecanto; two daughters, Lillian Waugh, Fort Myers, and Margie Haley, Lecanto; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.   • AVALLONE, DOMINICK, 77, of Beverly Hills, died Saturday (May 20, 2000) at home. He came here 10 years ago from his native New York City and was a power brake operator in a steel mill.   • CHAPPELL, FREDERICK C., 87, of Crystal River, died Tuesday (May 23, 2000) at Cypress Cove Care Center, Crystal River. Born in Boulton, England, he came here 18 years ago from Pennsville, Pa. He served with the Allied forces in the British Royal Navy during World War II. He was an apartment complex manager and member of the Church of England. He retired from the city of Oakland Park as the maintenance supervisor. He was a member and an ordained deacon of Riverside Baptist Church, Orlando, and an Army veteran of World War II. He worked for Breyer's Ice Cream, Wilkes-Barre, and was a deacon and member of First Baptist Church, Port Orange. He was a Navy veteran of World War II.   • VASILYADIS, VASIL, 90, of New Port Richey, died Tuesday (May 23, 2000) at home. Born in Imbros, Turkey, he came here two years ago from Clearwater. He retired in 1979 as chief secretary to the Greek Orthodox Archbishop, New York City, and previously was chief secretary to the Patriarch of Constantinople. He served in the Turkish Army. He was a member of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Tarpon Springs, and elder of Greek Orthodox Church of North and South America. He was professor of Orthodox theology, Holy Cross Seminary, Brookline, Mass., editor of Apostle Andrew, the Greek Orthodox Church newspaper in Constantinople, and founder of Pan-Imbrian Society of Constantinople. He received numerous honors from church leaders for his lifetime work. Survivors include his wife, Tiryandafilya; a son, Leon Vasilyadis, Clearwater; a daughter, Mary Magliulo "Jerry," New Port Richey; and three granddaughters. Thomas B.   • CLARK, NADINE I., 93, of Belleair Bluffs, died Sunday (May 21, 2000) at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater. She was born in Missouri and came here in 1971 from Evanston, Ill. She was chairman of the social studies department and director of curriculum at Evanston Township High School. She received degrees from Randolph Macon Woman's College and Columbia University. She also studied at the University of Virginia, Syracuse University, New York University and Northwestern University and wrote textbooks. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa, the National Society of the Daughters of the Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, and Delta Delta Delta sorority. She attended First United Methodist Church, Clearwater. Survivors include a sister, Mary Ellen Owen, Belleair Bluffs; a nephew, Richard H. Owen IV, Dunedin; a great nephew; and a great niece.     • FRENCH, HERBERT, G., 92, of Clearwater, died Monday (May 22, 2000) at Mease Dunedin Hospital. He was born in Talbot, Ind., and came here in 1970 from Illinois. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a past member of the Lions Club, Illinois, and an avid golfer. He was a member of Skycrest United Methodist Church. Survivors include two sons, Larry, Clearwater, and Wayne, Alpha, Ill.; a daughter, Mary Jane Bodnar; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. National Cremation Society, Largo.

She worked as a teller at First Union Bank until 1990 when she retired to Sarasota. Survivors include her husband, Walter; a daughter, Barbara Francis, Largo; a brother, James Murtagh, St. Augustine; a sister, Teresa Hodge, New Jersey; and four grandchildren.     • SHUMAN, KATHRYN W., 74, of St. Petersburg, died Tuesday (May 23, 2000) at Hospice House Woodside, Pinellas Park. Born in Magnolia, N.J., she came here in 1970 from Manassas, Va. She retired as a secretary and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene. She was a former Toastmistress. Survivors include two sons, Dane M., Largo, and Derrick G., St. Petersburg; two daughters, Denise K. Watts, Gulfport, and Debra A.     • WELSH, STUART M., 97, of Bradenton, formerly of St. Petersburg, died Monday (May 22, 2000) at Blake Medical Center, Bradenton. Born in Madison, Wis., he retired in 1957 as an Army colonel, having served during World War II and the Korean War. He served with a special weapons unit in an atomic weapons program until he became commandant of the Signal Corps Depot, Sacramento, Calif. Survivors include a niece, Lauren Coogan, Clearwater. R.     • WILSON, DAVID V., 24, of St. Petersburg, died Tuesday (May 23, 2000). He came here in 1991 from his native Long Branch, N.J. He was a mechanic for Rowland Inc. and was Baptist. He was a Marine Corps veteran and a 1994 graduate of St. Petersburg High School. Survivors include a son, Demarques, a daughter, Destiny Wilson, his mother, Octavia L. Wilson, all of St. Petersburg; three brothers, Kenneth and Daniel Jr., both of St. Petersburg, and Robert, Pittsburgh; five sisters, Gloria Suydam, Kissimmee, Octavia Saunders, Orlando, Ercella Wilson, Lynchburg, Va., and Bridget McCoy and Robinette Smith, both of St. Petersburg; many nieces and nephews; and his companion, Asia Jones.     • ROUDEBUSH, CAROLYN RUTH CECILLE, 79, of Spring Hill, formerly of Treasure Island, died Sunday (May 21, 2000) at home. Born in Superior, Neb., she moved to Spring Hill 11 years ago from Treasure Island. She retired as a co-owner of AAA Direct Mailing Services, St. Petersburg, and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. She was a Women's Army Corps veteran of World War II, a charter member of Hernando Women's Army Corps Veterans Chapter 97, and a member of Hernando County Winding Waters Chapter of DAR. Survivors include her husband, William V.; two sons, Scott W. and Timothy R.; two daughters, Julaine K. Fowler and Holly Beth Michaels; and four grandchildren.
