Offices, retail and homes to fill 22 acres
KEYSTONE -- County commissioners approved John and Patricia Rew's request Tuesday to rezone 22 acres at the northeast corner of Race Track and S Mobley roads. Development plans include 10,000 square feet for retail and office space and four large-lot homes. County staff, the Planning Commission and a zoning hearing master had endorsed the project. (Petition 01-0211)
Signs evoke community's past
The original "Welcome to Lutz" signs were destroyed during the mid-1990s widening of U.S. 41. Civic leaders hope the new signs, erected Friday, will shine forever.
Relief may come for parched suburbs
But not soon. Officials are talking about bringing reclaimed water lines to New Tampa, but estimates put it around 2007 or 2008.
Accident report
1. EHRLICH ROAD AT CASEY ROAD, MAY 11, 3:20 A.M.: A westbound 2001 Toyota hit the front of an arrow board directing traffic into the left lane for construction. The driver, a 31-year-old woman, was charged with DUI with property damage.
Roadwork
1. INTERSTATE 275, from Busch Boulevard to U.S. 41, will have periodic nighttime lane closures. Also watch for construction at Busch Boulevard and Fowler Avenue near the interstate. Work will continue until two new lanes are complete in fall 2002.
